Tour of the puys starting from Pradines

Park in the Auberge de Pradines car park, near Pradines Town Hall.

(S/E) Walk down Route de Tulle. The entrance to the path is at the bottom of the village, in the bend.

(1) Follow the path, cross the bridge and you will come to a three-way junction.

(2) Turn right. Continue to Peyrat. At the end of the hamlet, turn slightly right onto the D32E3 and cross to pick up the path opposite. Follow it to the D16.

(3) Turn slightly right onto this road and cross over to take the path opposite. Follow it to the D128. Turn right to reach the Gallo-Roman site of Les Jaillants.

(4) Turn left, continue along the edge of the fields and then along the edge of the woods. Then enter the woods via a 90° right turn. Join the Route de Bugeat.

(5) Follow it for a few metres to the right, then leave it for the path on the left: be careful here to find the start of this path. Follow it and stay on it, ignoring all the paths branching off to the right or left. Cross the river and you will come to a three-way junction.

(6) Turn left onto the path, and at the next three-way junction, keep right to join the GRP® des Monédières.

(7) Take it to the right until you reach the Ferme des Monédières.

(8) Leave the trail here and turn right onto the Ferme des Monédières path. Now follow the signs for the Balade Autour de Chaumeil until you reach the D128E. Turn left and follow the road for a few metres until you reach a crossroads with several directions, where you will find a gate.

(9) Go through the gate and, at the top of this short, easy climb, you will reach the paragliding launch area, then the junction of the GR®440 and GRP® trails.

(10) Continue straight ahead, keeping left at the^first crossroads to reach a road and the Cabane de Tienne.

(11) Take the road on the right and follow it to the Route des Puys, which joins the GRP® des Monédières here.

(12) Follow the GRP® to the right until you reach the village of Chaumeil. Turn left onto Route du Bol d'Or, then left onto Route des Puys, and after about 100 metres, go up the lane to Rue Robert Monédière.

(13) Follow Rue Robert Monédière for a few metres and take the path on the right, which is now the GR®440 marked in white and red. Continue slightly uphill, passing close to the village of Masmichel. Continue until you reach Route des Trois Planchoux.

(14) Follow Route des Trois Planchoux for a few metres on your right. At the hamlet of La Baule, keep left on the GR®. In the woods, there are several options for continuing:
- either stay on the GR® trail, which will shorten the route,
- or turn right, which is the route shown on the map, go around Puy Charrin and then rejoin the GR® at a three-way junction.

(15) Turn right onto the GR® and finish the descent at the hamlet of Vialaneix, Impasse du Charrin.

(16) Leave the GR® here by turning left onto the path heading due north. Follow it parallel to the Ruisseau de la Corrèze de Pradines and, after a final climb, you will reach the Croix du Trait crossroads.

(17) Turn right onto the road, cross the hamlet of Chazalnoël, and take the path on the left about a hundred metres after the houses. Follow it to Reignac.

(18) Turn left onto the D16 for a few steps, then take the path on the right that runs parallel to the Corrèze de Pradines to return to the original crossroads.

(2) Turn right onto the path you took on the way there and, going in the opposite direction, return to the car park at the Auberge de Pradines (S/E).

(9) Multi-directional crossroads: remember to close the gate behind you. Option to take a detour to Knoll de May and the Monédières orientation table.
