There is a huge, free car park at the bottom of the valley, at the foot of the lower station of the Hintertux Gletscherbahn (glacier cable car). There is also a bus stop.
This is a physically demanding hike. The ascent starts off steeply through woodland before passing a beautiful waterfall. There is a steep but secure section with a safety rope. You then reach a lovely mountain pasture. The route continues as a gentle climb to the summit. Magnificent views of the glacier – or rather, what remains of it. The descent follows uninteresting tracks suitable for vehicles.
