Park near the Royat cemetery.
(S/E) Head south to the end of the road, then follow a small path that climbs to the left after the last house and leads to a T-junction.
(1) Turn right at the end of this first climb. Follow the signs for "Charade" and "Royat". Ignore the various paths on the right and continue to a crossroads.
(2) Turn right, following the sign for "Royat pente forte" (steep slope). Ignore the path that branches off to the left and continue to Route de Charade.
(3) Go straight ahead and take a path through the woods (signposted "Charade"). When this path joins a small road, turn left and climb a little to enjoy a beautiful view of the Massif du Sancy.
(4) Viewpoint. Retrace your steps and descend to Chemin Départemental 5F. First turn right then left to follow the path that runs alongside the Charade golf course and admire the view over the Limagne plain. Arrive at the Charade Aventure car park.
(5) Take the path on the left through the woods, which descends towards the arboretum; through the branches, there is a beautiful view of the Puy de Dôme. Further on, keep right at the three-way junction and you will come to a crossroads.
(6) Follow the signs to the right for "Royat par le Chemin de la Pauze", then turn left onto a wide path at the corner of a meadow. Continue to the right at the fork.
(7) As the slope becomes steeper, turn right into the undergrowth to reach the beautiful viewpoint of Rocher du Salut.
(8) Rocher du Salut. Turn around and take Chemin de la Pauze on the right. Stay on the track until you reach the entrance to the housing estate. Join Rue de la Pauze, follow it to the left, then, at the end, turn right to go around the cemetery (A/D).
