You can park in Marmoutier between the Léonard de Vinci College and the fire station in the semi-circular car park. Other spaces are available in the nearby streets.
(S/E) Leave Marmoutier via the north. To do this, pass under the bridge of the old Molsheim-Saverne railway line and continue along Rue du 22 Novembre. Take the first street on the left towards "le tennis - arboretum", Rue de la Gare, which is slightly uphill. Pass in front of the old railway station, with the Sindelsberg chapel in the background. Continue to the end of the street.
(1) Turn right onto Rue Schwarzweg, which slopes downwards, without attempting to take the cycle path on the left as a shortcut. At the bottom, turn left onto Rue Neuve, pass under the bridge of the old railway line and you will reach a three-way junction not far from the wash house.
(2) Keep to the right, go around the Jewish cemetery on the right on the path that climbs moderately into the forest, marked with a red disc. Leave the forest and come out onto a meadow, leave the Air et Vie Specialised Care Home on your right and continue to the three-way junction at Willerholz.
(3) Continue straight ahead on the forest road towards Moulin de Champagne: on the right, you will see the village of Thal-Marmoutier, the Brotsch Tower and, opposite, the Château du Haut Barr. You will arrive at the Förstermatt rest area.
(4) At this clearing, take the path downhill to the right to Moulin de Champagne. Construction of Moulin de Champagne (Champagnermühle) is thought to have begun in the 17th century. Today, it has been restored and is privately owned and cannot be visited.
(5) Continue the hike southwards, climbing the path on the left and then turning right about 50 metres further on. Follow the Anneau Bleu marked trail, which runs alongside the Mosselbach at a relatively constant altitude. Reach the hamlet of Buchberg.
(6) Continue south on the paved road, following the Anneau Bleu markings.
(7) Before the end of the forest and the D117, take the path uphill on the left, marked Chevalet Bleu. This leads to a forest path.
(8) Keep going in the same direction towards the Carrefour des Cinq Chemins. Go to the highest point of this path, about fifty metres before the place called Haut du Tannenwald (sign).
(9) Take the path downhill on the right. Don't miss it: it starts between two large trees and is barely marked with a red cross. You will reach the Croix du Rasten, erected in tribute to a woodcutter.
(10) Turn right for a short detour to see a mysterious boundary stone.
(11) A small sign provides information about the boundary stone and the cross. Retrace your steps.
(10) Take the path on the right downhill towards Heckberg, marked with a blue ring.
(12) Leave the water reservoir on your right, continue straight ahead and reach the T-junction near an antenna.
(13) Turn right onto the paved road leading downhill, which takes you directly to the car park (S/E).
