Start at Col de la Serreyrède - Cévennes National Park Visitor Centre
Red-white markings
(S/E) Passing behind the Maison du Parc, head due north, following the GR® 7 - GR® 60 - GR® 66 towards the Col de Prat Peyrot.
(1) Cross the Hérault.
(2) Once you reach the Col de Prat Peyrot, cross the road, then head left, take the path behind the buildings and continue on the GR® routes.
Cross the next road and take the path on the right to pass under the arch (structure). Continue along this path, ignoring the new GR® route which branches off to the left, and carry on straight ahead until you reach a DFCI track.
(3) Cross it and continue along the GR® trails. Follow this path uphill to the Mont Aigoual road.
(4) Turn right onto it towards the observatory. Continue to the hiking signposts and descend along the GR® to a large junction of roads, tracks and paths at an altitude of 1,500 metres.
Yellow markings
(5) Walk past the menhir, take thefirst major path on the right heading due south, and immediately descend onto a narrow track towards Valleraugue. At the next junction, leave the path towards Valleraugue and continue along the marked path on the right. Cross a track and reach a fork in the paths.
(6) As soon as you see the educational signs about botany, take the path on the left. Make a short round trip to the viewpoint and continue down the path. Follow this Chemin du Laboratoire and cross a footbridge.
(7) At the Laboratoire sign (building with a picnic table), take the path on the right to go round the back of the building. Continue along this uphill path, pass the memorial stone and reach the car park and a DFCI track.
(8) Follow it to the left and continue for 800 m until the next junction with a path on the left.
No signposting
(9) Continue along this path, following the contour line on the left for over 1 km until you reach a crossroads at elevation 1348.
Yellow markings
(10) Continue left along the marked, shaded DFCI track, which is easy going. Cross several water-filled gullies.
Ignore the marked trails branching off to the right and continue along the main path until you reach another junction at an elevation of 1316 metres.
(11) Ignore the DFCI track on the right and continue along the dirt track, which descends to the left.
(12) At the closed path to the Cascades de l’Hérault, continue to the right. Join the D 269.
(13) Cross it with care (bend) and follow it to the right, then descend via a steep path resembling steps on the left. Continue along this path, following the markings, which will climb and then descend again into open country.
Pass the Renecofor station, then continue descending to the right to reach the Maison du Parc and the Col de la Serreyrède at (S/E)
