Start at the car park by the war memorial at the Lac Blanc ski resort at Col du Calvaire (access via Orbey or Le Bonhomme).
(S/E) From the war memorial, cross the road, pass by the base of a ski lift and join the GR®5 (Red Rectangle) on the right, which leads to the ridge. Once on the ridge, follow the summit path (GR®5) southwards.
(1) Turn left onto the panoramic path, along the ledge overlooking Lac Blanc (Red Ring).
(2) At the junction, follow this path to the left, marked with a Red Ring (Tour du Lac Blanc), which descends towards the headwaters of Lac Blanc. At the fork, head down to the left towards Château Hans, a famous rock formation resembling a citadel.
(3) Continue the descent towards the lake.
(4) When the path reaches the lake, leave the Red Ring and take the GR®532 (Yellow Rectangle) to the right until you cross a path, which you follow to the left until you reach the D48.2.
(5) Cross it and head down into the forest via the Blue Cross path towards Orbey. Turn left onto the track, then take the path on the right. At the next track, head straight ahead and join the Yellow Disc path.
(6) Take this to the right, pass under two high-voltage power lines and reach the farmhouse inn.
(7) At Pré Bracot, head down to the left towards the stream and join the Red Ring path.
(8) At the junction, continue left along this path until you reach a wayside cross marking a road and the entrance to the hamlet of Le Creux d’Argent. Turn left and walk past the wayside cross.
(9) Turn left onto the Blue Rectangle path, which climbs towards the Col du Calvaire; continuing straight on, it passes near the hamlet of Blancrupt through meadows, passing under the high-voltage power lines.
(10) Turn right onto the Blue Rectangle trail, passing under the high-voltage power lines again, and continue straight ahead, uphill. Pass under the high-voltage power lines once more and continue to the Col du Calvaire road.
(11) On arrival at the Lac Blanc station, continue straight on along the road to the Col du Calvaire (S/E).
