Tour of the Grand Pré in the Bois de la Gorge

Access by car via the Chemin de la Guerre from Oyonnax to Lac Genin, with parking available before the barrier (which may be open or closed).

(S/E) Continue to a three-way junction where there is a wayside cross.

(1) Take the path on the left and enter the woods. Pass a spring on the left. Continue until you reach a path junction on the left.

(2) Continue straight on (south) until you reach the bottom of a slope. Climb up a path (the only difficult part of the route). Further on, pass a path junction on the right and you will soon reach a crossroads.

(3) Turn right, leaving the sign for “Lac Genin” on your left. Turn right at the end of a low wall. You’ll come to a very easy path. After a short descent, you’ll reach a junction of paths.

(4) Turn right and continue straight on until you reach the crossroads by the wayside shrine.

(1) Turn left to return to the car park (S/E).

Walking poles are recommended due to the significant elevation gain.

Don’t forget to check yourself at the end of the walk for any ticks, which are very common in the forest.
