Departure from the Maîtres de l'École des Pins car park, on the left at the start of the Carraire du Moulin.
(S/E) Look for a sculpture of a ram on the corner pillar of the olive grove at the car park exit. On the left, towards the hill, there is a monumental sculpture on the upper façade of a private house.
Continue to the right, down Carraire du Moulin, then Boulevard Jules Ferry, turning right at the roundabout.
(1) Before turning left onto Boulevard de l'Égalité, look for a Provençal bastide flanked by two towers. At the end of Boulevard de l'Égalité, after passing the cemetery, turn left towards the church. On the square at the entrance to the cemetery, on the right, look for the monument commemorating the Armenian genocide of 1915.
Reach the start of the first street on the right a few metres after the cemetery square.
(2) At this point, turn right and enter the old village centre. This circular route takes you through narrow streets, typical of old Provençal villages. The route takes you back to the church square.
Here, don't miss a visit to the church, a cool, shady spot in the height of summer. Soak up the history with the frescoes on the left-hand side. Admire the recent addition of a Baroque organ.
On the Place de l'Église, face the castle and, if it is open, go through the gate on the left and climb up to admire the view from the castle gardens. The view is pleasant and relaxing.
On your way back, go to the end of the pétanque court terrace on the south side of the town hall esplanade. Admire the view of the Chaîne de l'Étoile and the Pilon du Roy.
(3) From Place de la Croix de Lorraine, take the path at the back of the car park and follow the ridge until you reach the Chapelle Notre-Dame de l'Espérance. After enjoying the peaceful surroundings, go to the rear, pass to the right of the old mill and, after a hairpin bend to the right, take the path to the north-west and then north, taking the right fork at the fork in the road. Go down Impasse de la Bonne Mère, then go up to the right on the D60 (take care). Walk along the magnificent French-style park of the Jardins d'Albertas on your left.
Leave the D60 on the left, then turn right for a few metres at the next crossroads.
(4) Turn left onto a well-maintained path that takes you through the woods in the heart of the village. Turn left and head downhill towards the housing estates. Turn right onto Rue des Nymphes, then right again onto Chemin des Narcisses. Continue in the same direction.
(5) At the exit of the Lotissement l'Escandihado housing estate, cross the road and turn left. After 20 metres, take the path on the right between the houses. Then take the alleys named after musicians: Rue Berlioz on the left, then Rue Frédéric Chopin on the right. At the end of the street, turn left and after a few metres you will reach the entrance to the Résidence Montana.
(6) Go through the gate (this is a completely authorised passageway, despite the imposing gate) and follow the signs for Vallon du Pégot. Walk along the outside of the fence. Ignore the paths on either side. The climb up the valley is quite long. This is the most challenging part of the walk before reaching the top of the Bouc Bel Air communal wood.
(7) At the top, turn right onto Carraire du Moulin, which will be your return route. Pass a few houses on your right. When the view opens up, take the time to look towards the north-west and see the Roquefavour Aqueduct, the TGV viaduct and, often, the legendary Mont Ventoux. You will reach the car park of the Maîtres de l'École des Pins (S/E).
