Description of the walk

Starting point: the car park at Place de la Mairie.

(S/E) From the Place de la Mairie, walk up Rue du Général de Gaulle to the Romanesque Church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul; do not walk past it. Climb the steps on your left, go round the back of the church and join Rue Braun, which you follow to the right, keeping straight on.

(1) Go under the Porte du Lion, walk up Rue de Molsheim and carry on straight ahead. Walk past the houses. At the first three-way junction, turn left and carry on straight ahead.

(2) At this junction, and at the next one, take the road leading downhill on your left.

(3) Turn right down Chemin du Kroettengass, which takes you to Route de Rosenwiller. At this point, turn left and, at the next junction, take the first path on your right, called Chemin du Leimen.

(4) At the three-way junction and again at the next one, turn left onto Rue du Guirbaden, then Rue des Vosges, to continue down Rue de la Chapelle.

(5) Turn left at the junction and then take the first street on your right, Rue Saint-Benoit, which takes you past the Benedictine convent. Then cross the street and walk alongside the River Rosenmeer to reach, via a path, Rue du Général de Brauer and the ramparts, which you follow along a footpath. This path leads onto Rue des Bergers, which you walk up with the old prison in front of you. Go round it on the right and take the steps to reach Place de la Mairie (S/E).

Given that the site dates back to medieval times, the discovery of a high-quality and very well-maintained architectural setting further enhances the appeal of this walk
Furthermore, the route is easy to follow
