Tour of Boersch

Start from the car park on Avenue Clémenceau in Rosheim.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, turn right towards the west, then turn right onto Rue Nouvelle and quickly take the greenway on the left. Continue to the edge of the village, cross the D604 and arrive at a three-way junction a few metres further on.

(1) Leave the cycle path and turn right onto the carriageway. At the next fork, keep left and continue to the next junction, at the edge of the vineyards and an orchard.

(2) Turn left and continue straight on to the church and town hall in Boersch.

(3) Just after the magnificent well, turn right onto the D35 and follow it to the D216. Turn right onto the D216, then immediately right onto the path that runs alongside the small canal. At the road, continue left and reach the next crossroads. Turn left (D216) and quickly join a carriageway on the right.

(4) Take this track and continue until you reach a road. Turn right and, at the "Boersch - Saint-Léonard" bus stop, enter the Cour du Chapitre Saint-Léonard.

(5) After enjoying the site, continue straight ahead (Route de Saint Léonard), then turn right onto Rue de Dietrich and enter the Domaine de la Léonardsau park.

(6) After visiting the park, turn right and follow the road, which is closed to all vehicles except residents. Cross the cycle path and you will come to a crossroads. Turn right and continue to the next crossroads.

(7) Ignore the bridge over the Ehn and take the path on the left just before it. Follow the river to the entrance to Obernai, at the Résidence Le Vieux Moulin.

(8) Turn right and follow the street for about 300 metres until you find a small path on the left, marked by a sign saying "Danger, steep path". Take this path, climb the steps and, at the top, turn right then quickly left at the "Rue de la Paix" bus stop. Climb up to Rue de la Haute Corniche.

(9) Continue to the right and follow the street to the Mémorial National des Incorporés de Force and its viewpoint.

(10) Then return to Rue de la Haute Corniche.

(9) Continue straight ahead and follow this street to the end. Then continue straight ahead on a grassy path until you reach a small road.

(11) Cross it and continue straight ahead until you reach a multiple fork (Carrefour du Hoeltzel).

(12) Turn left downhill onto the tarmac road. At the crossroads, turn left, pass in front of the Bischoffsheim municipal reservoirs, then take the first path on the right until you reach a crossroads.

(13) First turn left then right and continue to the right at the next fork; you will reach the end of Rue de Bischenberg in Rosheim.

(14) Turn right, then left onto Rue de l'Abattoir. At the end, turn left and you will reach the war memorial. Continue straight ahead onto Rue du Lion and, opposite No. 15, turn left, then left again at No. 9. At the cross street opposite No. 9, turn right and you will reach Avenue Clémenceau (S/E).

No difficulty. Suitable for a Sunday walk for good walkers.

Saint-Léonard is remarkable and the newly restored Château de la Léonardsau is well worth a visit.
The villages of Boersch and Rosheim are picturesque, and the town of Obernai is well worth a visit.
