Head to the upper Var valley and park after Estenc at the exit of a hairpin bend on the left.
(S/E) Take the stony path that starts on the right, runs alongside the Ruisseau de la Sanguinière stream and leads to a crossroads.
(1) Continue straight ahead and you will soon come to some shepherds' huts. Follow the path and after 200 metres you will reach a crossroads (altitude 2070).
(2) Cross the wooden footbridge, locate the sign indicating the yellow-marked trail and climb into the forest via the path on the right. After climbing through the undergrowth, you will emerge into the glacial cirque and climb up this valley until you reach the large rocky ridge at the foot of Pointe Côte de l'Âne (you can climb up here if you wish).
(3) Continue climbing to the bottom of the cirque along a mostly stony path and admire the Roche Trouée opposite (you can climb up by following the cairns).
(4) The return journey is via the other side of the cirque, along a stony path alternating between overlooking lakes, including the one at an altitude of 2,025 metres, which is not very visible through the trees.
(5) Continue downhill until you reach a denser wood. Be sure to take the stone path on the left and leave the clearly visible path that climbs opposite.
(6) Follow the Gorgias stream, which appears and disappears, until you reach a footbridge upstream from the huts.
(1) Join the path you took on the way up, which you can see through the trees (not very visible on the ground). Turn left and you will reach the car park in a few minutes (S/E).
