Visitor car park at the Kerhostin campsite or car park at the monument near Fort de Penthièvre.
The route follows the coastal path, but it is possible to walk along the beaches on the eastern side of the peninsula at low tide only. Check the tide times carefully, otherwise you will have to turn back and rejoin the coastal path.
Red and white markings (GR®34), yellow and blue sign: Coastal path
(S/E) Turn right to join the coastal path. Follow it southwards. Arrive at Pointe de Kerhostin.
(1) The first of many rocky points and headlands on the peninsula. Continue along the path.
(2) At low tide only, leave the coastal path and continue straight ahead along the beaches and rocky outcrops, as shown on the map. Otherwise, head a little further inland by turning right onto Rue Roche Noire and following the blue signs for "Sentier littoral" (coastal path).
(3) At Rue Poul Perneau, rejoin the coastal path and continue along a small rampart. Passing other people can be tricky in places.
(4) Further on, when you reach Beg Rohu, you must stay on the coastal path, as access to the beach is impossible on this section, which belongs to the National Sailing and Water Sports School. Turn right onto Route des Roches, then follow the small path at Beg Rohu, just to the right of the gate to the Centre Nautique. The path is marked with yellow markings and "Sentier littoral" signs. It leads back to the seaside.
(5) At Port Haliguen, join the tarmac road and walk along the harbour. Follow the red and white and yellow markings and the "Sentier littoral" signs. You will then reach a wilder area that is often frequented by families.
(6) At the base of Pointe du Conguel, take the path on the left to reach the orientation table.
(7) At the point, walk along the beach instead of returning by the same route. At the end of the beach, rejoin the coastal path on the right and finally theGR®34.
(6) Head left towards Port Jean. Then continue to Beg er Vil.
(8) When you reach the Carl Bech memorial in Beg er Vil, continue straight ahead to reach Grande Plage and Port Maria.
(9) Port Maria is the departure point for boats to Belle-Île, Houat or Hoëdic. Stay on theGR®34.
(10) At Beg er Lan, you can walk around the castle via the coastal path on the left (closed for renovation when we visited). Then the path along the wild coast begins. Please stay on the paths to preserve the flora and fauna.
(11) At Beg et Goalennec, there is a bar/restaurant, the last one for a long time, where you can stock up on water if necessary. Pass through the Vivier car park and stay on theGR®34.
(12) At Pointe du Percho, take the path on the left leading to the tumulus and Pointe de Beg en Aud.
(13) At Beg en Aud, go around the point, then take the path on the left towards Plage du Foso. Continue on, passing Portivy.
(14) You can walk to Île Tilic at low tide by turning left. Otherwise, continue straight ahead.
(15) Turn left to walk along Fort de Penthièvre and the monument paying tribute to the Resistance fighters, or turn right to go directly to the monument, then cross the road to return to the Kerhostin car park (S/E).
