Tour of Carnac via Beaumer

This ride allows you to discover Carnac by bike and see as many of its iconic sites as possible. Starting from the village of Carnac, this route passes by the megalithic sites, the Pô, the beaches of Carnac, and then heads back up through Beaumer and the marsh paths.

Description of the route

Departure from the Tourist Office, Place de la Chapelle. Car park nearby.

(S/E) Go behind the Tourist Office and continue straight on towards the church.

(1) Go behind Saint-Cornély Church, skirting around the right-hand side, then take Rue Colary on the left. Follow route no. 3 towards Ranguhan. Keep going until you reach the neighbourhood.

(2) Continue straight ahead and take the second right. Continue along the track, which is closed to all motor vehicles, then keep left until you reach the road.

(3) Pass the Croix de Kergouellec and continue until you reach Chemin de Beaumer.

(4) Continue straight ahead to Carnac beach.

(5) Then continue along the same road, passing through Légenèse.

(6) Keep going straight ahead and pass Ty Bihan.

(7) Continue straight ahead and pass Saint-Colomban beach.

(8) Head up towards the village of the same name, taking the third exit at the roundabout, and discover the remarkable pink granite chapel.

(9) Continue along the path until you reach the fountain.

(10) Then leave the road by turning left. Go around the Pô by taking the Chemin de Mané Er Groez at the end on the left.

(11) Continue along this path. Take Rue du Pô on the left and you will arrive at the junction with Chemin de Kergouillard.

(12) Follow Rue du Pô to the left and you will reach the old fishing port.

(13) Continue to the oyster farms. Pass the farms, turn around and return to the junction with Chemin de Kergouillard.

(12) Turn left onto Chemin de Kergouillard and follow it to the roundabout. Continue straight ahead and at the end, turn left to the Ménec megalithic site.

(14) Walk along the rows of menhirs for about 2.5 kilometres to the Kermario site, first turning right then left onto the departmental road.

(15) Continue and then turn right onto Chemin de Kerluir, which descends towards the village, and join Chemin de Croez Er Gwen on the right.

(16) Take the cycle path to reach the village of Cloucarnac.

(17) Continue straight ahead, then turn right uphill onto the first road on the right.

(18) Keep left and continue along the path. Pass the Tumulus de Saint-Michel on your right and continue straight ahead to the starting point (S/E).

Notes

This route is approximately 16 km long and uses some roads without safety features. It is particularly important to watch out for cars during the summer months or when there is heavy traffic.

Several parts of the route follow cycle paths on tree-lined roads, paths or greenways.
