Description of the route

Start at the Carnac Plage Tourist Office.

(S/E) Head towards the ocean to reach Boulevard de la Plage.

(1) Turn right, walk along the Grande Plage and turn right towards the small harbour. A few metres further on, take the Chaussée des Bernaches on the left towards the oyster beds and the Pô. Head straight on until you reach the Croix des Emigrés. First turn left then right and continue towards the oyster beds until you reach Rue du Pô. Turn left and follow the street to the slipway and the cove.

(2) After the Tibidy oyster farm, take the Route de Kerroch, which curves to the right. Follow it to the village of Plouharnel.

(3) In Plouharnel, follow the cycle signs: turn left onto Rue Ste-Anne, then continue along Rue Saint-Michel and head downhill to the left onto Rue du Docteur Tessoulin.

(4) Then cross the road and head back up towards the school. First, turn right then left and join Rue du Pont Neuf on the left. Continue along this road for a few hundred metres, cross the railway line and you will come to a fork.

(5) Take the second left onto Rue de Glenenay. Then follow Chemin du Moulin and head up to the left towards the village of Sainte-Barbe.

(6) Stop to admire its typical little chapel and granite houses. Then keep to the left and follow the signs for the beach, about 1 km further down. Turn left towards the beach.

(7) Once you reach Sainte-Barbe beach, turn back towards the village. When you reach the path leading to the beach road, turn left, then right, then left again, and then right once more. At the end, turn right.

(8) At the multi-way junction, take Rue de Kreisker, leave the village and continue straight on until you reach the junction you passed on the way there.

(5) Continue straight on to the Ocean Primary School (which you passed earlier, just before reaching the village centre). Turn right to rejoin the outbound route to Route de Kerroch (Rue du Dr Tousselin, Rue Saint-Michel then Rue Sainte-Anne).

(3) Continue straight on to the end of Rue Sainte-Anne.

(9) Turn right onto the main road towards Carnac and turn immediately left, then right into the residential area (follow the small cycle signs). At the end of the street, continue straight on along a path that leads to the gates of the Abbayes de Kergonan, located on Rue de Kerbachique.

(10) Carry on, passing the Camping de l'Océan, and continue along the road to Kerderff.

(11) Once in Kerderff, cross the main road to join Chemin de Mané Lann and turn left again to reach the gendarmerie roundabout.

(12) Continue straight on towards the Ménec stone circles. At the roundabout, follow the D196 and follow the stone circles eastwards until you reach the junction with Rue de Courdiec on the right.

(13) Turn right and head back down towards the village, taking Rue de Bellevue on the left. At the roundabout, take the first right, Rue des Korrigans.

(14) Once you have passed the museum and town hall on your left in Carnac, take Rue du Tumulus, which descends to the left to reach another roundabout.Continue towards the Tumulus, straight ahead then left. Do not go up to the Tumulus; leave the road by turning right onto the path leading to Cloucarnac.

(15) Once in the village, head up the street on the left then take the Chemin de Cloucarnac on the right, leading to the Montauban area.

(16) In the Montauban area, take the path that starts between the DIY store and the recycling centre. Then follow the path which continues to the right to the port of La Trinité-sur-Mer. Continue straight on, passing behind the Plijadur campsite until you reach the Kerguillé district. Cross it, keeping to the left, then continue straight on until you reach the A-road between La Trinité-sur-Mer and Auray. Turn right and go down the street to the port.

(17) The return journey takes you, to the right, along the coastal cycle path which runs alongside the coast, the Men Du and Beaumer beach until you reach Carnac’s Grande Plage.

(1) Once at the junction with the Allée des Alignements, turn right to reach the Beach Tourist Office (S/E).
