On the paths of the Côte de Deuil

This walk allows you to explore the Côte de Deuil, a vast natural area located just 300 m from the town centre. Formerly an agricultural area, this green space is criss-crossed by numerous paths, the oldest of which date back to Gallic times. The walk is fully signposted in the same style as classicGR® trails but in purple.
You can also view a 3D tour of the walking route on YouTube or on the Côte des Sentiers website

Description of the walk

The starting point, Place des Victimes du V2, is accessible by train (line H) via Deuil-Montmagny station; it is also served by buses 337 and 256.
There are several car parks in the immediate vicinity (see map).

(S/E) From the square at the foot of the church, with your back to it, turn right onto Rue Charles de Gaulle at the corner by the bakery. Continue to Parc Winston Churchill and walk through it from one end to the other.

(1) At the exit, turn right onto the Sentier des Coquins, which, via Rue des Vergers, joins Rue du Crochet; turn left here and continue to No. 4.

(2) Turn onto the small path on the right, continue to Rue des Granges and walk up it for about ten metres. Then take the farm track on the right and follow it to Rue Bourgeois. Walk up to the left until you reach the second path on the right, Sentier des Engoulevents.

(3) Turn right onto this path. At the end, turn right, then take the path on the left, the Sentier du Petit Encheval, which joins the Sentier du Clos de Paris.

(4) Turn right onto this path, continue along the Sentier du Bas Clos and, at the end of the path, turn left onto the Sentier de l'Encheval retrouvé. Continue to the right along the Sentier du Bas de la Carrière, which leads onto Rue Bourgeois.

(5) Turn left, continue straight on Rue Bourgeois until you reach Rue Charles de Gaulle. Turn right to return to Place des Victimes du V2 (S/E).

This short, one-hour hike through natural and often uncultivated areas is full of surprises.
Some passages through densely wooded areas give the impression of being far away from civilisation.
Other passages through cultivated areas (family gardens) offer panoramic views of the capital.
In the distance, you can see the Sacré Coeur and the Eiffel Tower.
It is a contrasting route whose appearance also changes with the seasons.
So it's worth doing several times a year!

Hello,

I have lived in Montmagny for 40 years, but it took this route being published on Visorando for me to discover these paths and gardens.
It's amazing and delightful to discover these narrow, shaded, well-maintained paths and gardens, with their history explained on a sign.
And as it's nearby, I was obviously able to do the whole thing on foot from my house.

Thank you for sharing.

It's very surprising to walk along such narrow paths just a few kilometres from Paris. The paths are quiet and often run alongside allotments or private gardens. You may come face to face with wild boar, as some signs warn. An unusual and exotic route.
