For this hike, head to Murviel-les-Montpellier, a small town 20 minutes north of Montpellier. You can park on Avenue du Champ des Moulins, where there is shade and free parking.
(S/E) Head towards the increasing house numbers on this street.
Start moving away from the village, still on this avenue, which gradually turns into a slightly stony track to reach the D27 departmental road at the Croix de Cade crossroads.
(1) Continue straight ahead on this path, which will quickly become stony and then smooth out considerably. On either side, you will walk alongside vineyards and will occasionally be sheltered by the shade of fig trees. Reach the three-way junction at a place called Soureillades.
(2) Turn right onto Chemin du Salinie and continue for a few hundred metres until you reach another three-way junction. Take the left fork; the right fork has a blue cross painted on the telephone pole. Continue straight ahead, admiring the Mediterranean Sea in the distance.
Pass the Chemin du Mas de Gres, indicated by a street sign on the left. You will reach another crossroads a few metres further on.
(3) Turn onto the wide path on the left. Stay on this path, ignoring the first crossroads, until you reach the next four-way crossroads.
(4) Turn right onto Chemin du Carrau, then left onto Route de Saint-Georges d'Orques to reach Abbaye de Vignogoul.
(5) Take the same path back to the previous crossroads.
(4) Turn right and you will soon come to another crossroads, Chemin des Proses.
(6) Turn left. Begin a relatively gentle climb towards Domaine des Proses and reach the gate of the property.
(7) In front of the estate, take the small path on the left and continue along the main track until you reach the D27 and the initial crossroads at Croix de Cade.
(1) Follow the same route back to the car park where you started (S/E).
