Spessart Trail “Jossgrund – Wachhütte and Minenwerfergrund”

The Minenwerfergrund car park is situated in the valley of the young River Jossa and still bears its name from the Second World War. Today, however, the starting point of the Spessartspur is a wonderfully peaceful spot in the heart of nature. Along the way, the many impressive mounds of the red forest ant are particularly eye-catching.

Description of the walk

The route follows the ‘Birkenhainer Straße’ hiking trail along a ridge, where the old trade route of the same name once ran through the Spessart. Following the Spessartspur, magnificent views over the Flörsbachtal and Jossgrund unfold here. The route continues to the Wachhütte and from there back down via pleasant woodland paths to the starting point.
