Red trail at the Blavet site

Nestled among vineyards and pine trees, La Bouverie is a pretty residential neighbourhood and the green heart of Roquebrune-sur-Argens. At the foot of the majestic Gorges du Blavet, where the red rock of the Estérel rises in steep cliffs, hiking trails lead in the footsteps of Homo Bouvérien. Archaeologists have recognised that the Roquebrune-sur-Argens area has been continuously inhabited throughout prehistoric times. The caves of La Bouverie are the earliest evidence of this.

Description of the walk

(S/E) From the Jean-Pierre Rabet car park, take the Piste de la Lieutenante. Turn left onto the Piste de la Bouverie and continue until you reach a fork. At the intersection marked by a sign, you can turn left to reach the picnic area by the pond.

(1) Continue along the trail to reach the caves. At the signpost indicating the caves, turn right onto the stone staircase, then turn left. Continue and turn right to reach the first cave. Follow the yellow-marked trail that runs along the caves. Then start the climb on the left. Once at the top, you will arrive at a crossroads.

(2) Make a return trip to the left to admire the view over the Argens plain, the Rocher de Roquebrune and the Estérel. Retrace your steps back to the track without going back through the caves. Take the red trail on the right and continue along the cliffs, a real adventure playground for climbers.

(3) At the bottom of the descent, turn right to rejoin the main track at a large Mediterranean pine tree.

(4) Turn left and follow the track to reach the Blavet bridge. At the entrance to the bridge, a path on the right leads to a viewpoint overlooking the old sawmill. From the bridge, enjoy the panoramic view of the Blavet Gorges.

(5) Retrace your steps back to the bridge. Take the track on the left and return to the crossroads.

(4) Turn left to return to the car park at the starting point (S/E).

A short hike, ideal for warming up on the first day of your holiday when the weather is bad. Despite everything, we enjoyed this little walk, especially the section at the foot of the cliffs, the woodland and the little pond.

Hello User 7723644, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment. We have taken note of your comment about the tracking software. The itineraries published on Visorando, such as the one for the "Sentier rouge du Site du Blavet", are extracted from GPX files in order to follow the existing paths as closely as possible, particularly when they are waymarked paths or present local specificities. In spite of everything, we hope that this walk has enabled you to spend a pleasant moment in our region and more specifically in our destination of Roquebrune sur Argens. We look forward to welcoming you back on our trails! Yours sincerely

Poorly performing tracking software The software should calculate the route from point A to point B on its own.
