To get here from the Basque Coast, cross the border at Dantcharia, continue on the N-121B to the Otxondo Pass and head back down. Pass Amaiur Maya and continue to a junction with the NA-2600 towards Erratzu. Turn right and cross back over the N-121B to continue on the NA-2600, which climbs up to the Col d’Ispéguy.
Take the Col d'Ispéguy road on the right after the church of Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry.
(S/E) The path heads south-east at the far end of the car park, winds through the forest, then emerges onto a grassy area and leads to the Nekaitze Pass (Nekaitzeko Lepoa in Basque), marked by a stone enclosure.
(1) Turn left towards the south-east shortly after the pass. The path climbs towards Elhorriko Kaskoa.
(2) At the junction, turn right towards the south-west to descend to the Col d'Elhorrieta (Elorrietako Lepoa in Basque).
(3) Turn right towards the north-west, then right again towards the north-east to reach the stone enclosure at the Col de Nekaitze.
(4) Turn north to reach the ridge and the wooded area until you come to a Y-junction.
(5) Turn left to avoid climbing up to the ridge and return to the car park (S/E).
