Park in the village square in Prades.
Blue and yellow/white markings
(S/E) Walk to the church and take the path on the right. Join the road, follow it downhill, straight on, to the bridge. Before the bridge, turn onto the path on the left and follow it to the tarmac road. Continue to the right until the next junction.
(1) Turn sharply left towards La Roche/Bois de Prades. Follow the tarmac track uphill and then along the ridge until you reach a 90° right-hand bend.
(2) Leave the road and carry straight on along an almost straight track until you reach a three-way junction at Pont de Sausse.
(3) Turn right, leaving the yellow and white markings to the left. A few metres further on, do not turn left; instead, take the path on the right. Continue straight on until you reach the road. Turn right downhill and proceed to a junction near a bridge. Turn left to cross the bridge and reach a T-junction.
(4) First turn right then left, and follow the path running alongside the stream on your right, towards La Pialade. Continue along a path through the woodland until you reach the house in the hamlet of Crouzon.
(5) Go round it on the right, then take the path opposite. At the road, continue left for 200 m until you reach the next junction.
(6) Continue to the left (yellow and white markings); ignore the access road to Les Clozades on the right, pass under a power line and walk through a residential area in a wooded spot. As you come out of the residential area, look out for a grassy path branching off to the right. This is situated just before and opposite a small concrete building at the foot of two concrete posts, one of which supports three medium-voltage power lines.
(7) Follow this path until you reach a road. Turn left, pass the hamlet of Béraud and cross a stream via a bridge. Shortly afterwards, ignore a path climbing up to the right, then continue for about fifty metres. On the right, you’ll find the start of a path at the entrance to the left-hand bend in the road, at the edge of a copse of trees.
Follow this path and, once you reach the top of the hill, at the corner by the hunters’ hut, walk a few metres to the left, then take the path on the right at an acute angle. Cross the bottom of a small valley through the meadows and reach the Pont de Sausse.
(3) Ignore the route taken on the way there and take the path on the right. Cross the bridge and head up to the D 323, following a stream on your left-hand side more or less. Ignore the bridge on the left and continue straight ahead to a wooden footbridge. Cross this and head up to the hamlet of Fulachier on the hilltop.
(8) Turn left and head down through the meadow to the D 323 (make sure to close the gates properly).
Carry on to the right, cross a stream and join the start of the Chemin des Peyrouses on the right at the bend to the left of the road. Follow it, passing houses on your right, then continue along a path that runs almost in a straight line. Cross a stream and reach a road (Chemin de Brousse). Follow it to the right until you reach a hairpin bend to the right.
(9) Take the path on the left (make sure you close the gates properly). When you reach the ridge, you’ll cross the Chemin Ferré: to the right, towards Les Crêtes and Montferrou; to the left, towards the village of Prades (about 30 mins). Continue straight ahead, towards Les Fiagoux.
When you reach the D 223, turn right towards Les Coufours. At the three-way junction, turn left twice onto the Chemin des Coufours. Walk for about 50 metres until you reach a crossroads.
(10) Leave the hamlet of Les Coufours on your left and follow the road straight ahead. Then continue along a path that broadly follows the summit ridge and rejoin the tarmac road at the Ruisseau du Salyndre.
(11) Turn left uphill and continue straight on until you reach the village square in Prades (S/E).
) to get back onto the Largentière road.
