Tignes le Lac Discovery Trail and Botanical Trail

The hike starts on the heights of Lac de Tignes, turning left at the tourist office (at the top) and following the cycle path. The hike starts behind the ski lift on the left.

(S/E) Follow the path marked with yellow "Sentier de Découverte" signs towards the east.

(1) Take the path on the left that descends towards Tignes le Lavachet and join the Sentier de Découverte.
Note: if you wish to do the hike in reverse, turn right to go directly up to the pass.

(2) Enter the Sentier de Découverte by turning right and going down the steps. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, following the signs for the Sentier de Découverte.

(3) Turn left onto the Sentier Botanique (Botanical Trail), which descends (signposted). Stay on this trail, which joins the Sentier de Découverte further on. Follow this trail to the Croix de Combefolle.

(4) Take the path that climbs to the right to Pas de la Tovière. At the top, follow the GR®5 signposted path to the north-west to cross the pass through the mountain pastures.(
) Enjoy the magnificent view of Lac de Chevril and the Tignes dam from the picnic tables provided.

(5) Continue straight ahead and begin the descent. Return to the first junction of the hike.

(1) Return to Tignes le Lac (S/E) by following the same route you took on the way there.

There is no water along the route.

In the direction of the route, the first part is wooded and shaded, and the second is in the mountain pastures in the sun and wind.

Halfway along the route, there is a magnificent view of Lac du Chevril and the dam, with numerous picnic tables along the hike at about the halfway point.
