Waterfalls and Gouille de Salin from Tignes le Lac

Hike suitable for families (but with a significant elevation gain), starting from Tignes Lavachet, to see the magnificent Salin Waterfalls with a detour via the Gouille de Salin. There are a few wooden footbridges and several places where walking shoes are required.

Description of the walk

The hiking trail starts at the end of a path that passes behind the "La Tour du Lac" building in Tignes Lavachet (accessible at the end of the open car park at the foot of the building).
If you are coming by car, you can park in the Tignes Lavachet car park opposite. The free Tignes 2100 shuttle bus stop is also right in front of the start of the hike. If you are coming from Tignes le Lac, you can access the hike directly by starting a little higher up on the footpath/cycle path that starts at the top of the Rousse ski lift.

(S/E) Follow the path from the car park until you reach the signs indicating the possible hikes.

(1) Turn right onto the hiking trail and follow the Gouille de Salin signs (yellow arrows) down the wooden steps.

(2) At the crossroads, follow the signs for Gouille de Salin on the left. At the next crossroads, continue to follow the signs for Gouille de Salin on the right.

(3) Follow the Gouille de Salin signs to the right for a round trip to the Résurgence de la Gouille de Salin, 10 minutes away: a magnificent viewpoint with a few picnic tables.

(4) Turn around and follow the signs for Cascades et Lac du Chevril until you reach the previous intersection.

(3) Continue to the right. You will soon arrive at the first viewpoint of the waterfalls. Continue along the trail until you reach the heart of the waterfalls.

(5) Take a break in the cool shade of the waterfalls before setting off again, either by turning back or, as shown on the map, continuing along the trail for a few metres to reach the last viewpoint of the waterfalls, before turning back to climb back up (access to the two loops is closed).

(5) Retrace your steps to return to Tignes Lavachet (S/E).

However, access to these two routes indicated on the official maps was closed in summer 2025.

There are no water sources along the route.

There are shaded picnic tables at La Gouille (4).

Hello,
a lovely little walk offering beautiful views of Lake Chevril. The waterfall is very pretty. The trickles of water are very sparse, which makes it unique. The path is a bit slippery, so take care with children.
