(S/E) The hike starts at the car park on the south-western shore of the Küchensee lake (accessible via Farchauer Weg). We first walk down to the lake shore, where there is also a canoe launch site. We then start the circular route to the south.
(1) We pass the Farchau farm and turn left. Here you can see a water mill wheel. We walk along the bank of a pond and then turn left. The path leads us back to the shore of the Küchensee.
(2) We make a short detour to the right to the Farchauer Mühle, where you can also stop for a bite to eat. Then we return to the lake shore, where there are several nice places to rest on wooden walkways. We follow the circular trail along the shore to the north.
(3) A bridge takes us over the Schaalsee Canal. We turn left at the next opportunity and follow the lake trail through the forest. Behind the Haus Waldesruh holiday guesthouse, we turn left at the fork in the path. Finally, we reach Waldesruher Weg and turn left at the end.
(4) The path now leads us along a dam between the Küchensee and the Kleiner Küchensee lakes.
(5) We have reached the old town of Ratzeburg. If you like, you can make a detour to the market square here. We follow the promenade along the Küchensee lake.
(6) Behind the Schwanenteich (swan pond), we turn right. We make a detour to the Fischerstube (signposted, turn right at the car park), where you can take a break with a view of Lake Ratzeburg. Then we return to the Küchensee circular trail via the same route. We turn left into Dr.-Alfred-Block-Allee and follow the large Möllner Straße for a short distance.
(7) Turn diagonally left onto a narrow path past idyllic little holiday homes right on the water. The hiking trail now leads south along the wooded western shore of the lake back to the hiking car park (S/E).
