Description of the walk

(S/E) From the Edelweiss Chalet, go up the access road, cross the Route des Crêtes and continue for 20 metres. Turn right onto theGR®5trail (red rectangle) towards the Grand Ballon.
The trail remains uphill and parallel to the Route des Crêtes. Most of the route is through beech forests of varying density.

(1) At Moorfeld, cross the Route des Crêtes and take the forest path below for about 200 metres, then turn left onto the path known as "Kapitaenstressla" (red rectangle).

(2) Leave the stubble field again and go around the Storkenkopf via the southern slope until you reach the Haag farm.

(3) Cross the Route des Crêtes and turn left onto theGR®532trail (yellow rectangle) leading to Moorfeld to join theGR®5(red rectangle) at the Route des Crêtes. Return to the intersection passed at the start of the hike.

This route starts from the Edelweiss Ski Club refuge in Saint-Amarin, which can be reached by car from Markstein or Grand-Ballon except during the winter period (the Route des Crêtes is traditionally closed to traffic between mid-November and mid-April).
