Description of the walk

(S) Leave the refuge via the south-east towards the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme (2,408m) and reach it.

(1) Turn right onto the beautiful Crête des Gittes and reach the highest point with ease.
The path is a variant of the Tour du Beaufortain; it is also theGR®5.

(2) Begin a gentle descent to reach the Col de la Sauce.

(3) Continue the descent to reach the hamlet of Bel-Air.

(4) Continue the descent due south, first via a few hairpin bends and then along a straighter route, until you reach a footbridge.

(5) Cross the stream, leaving the Plate and Lauze path on your right, to reach the D925 and, on the right, the Plan de la Lai refuge on the edge of this road (E).

We set off from the Refuge des Prés, passing via the Col du Bonhomme and the Crête des Gittes on our way to the Refuge de Plan Mya. We crossed snowfields using small crampons for the pass. After the Crête des Gittes, the route was clear and presented no problems. A lovely route with beautiful scenery.

A lovely walk; we altered the route slightly due to the snow.
We’d love to do it again
