Description of the walk

(S) From the refuge, head north, then turn right at the pass (north-east) onto the ridge.

(1) You will reach the Col des Fours (colony of ibex). Late snowfields may obscure the start of the descent: head south-east on the north-east slope of the Tête Sud des Fours. The descent is (depending on the season) over scree (no particular danger) to a flat section.
Approach the torrent on the left and follow it. Move away from it again on a steep section, then approach it again and cross it (beautiful waterfall). Climb up the small promontory opposite and follow the path heading north.

(2) In the scree, turn right (south-east). Further down, cross the Tufs stream to reach its left bank.
The path widens and becomes less steep.

(3) At the hamlet of Les Tufs, turn right towards Ville des Glaciers (marmots). Cross the village and then the Glaciers stream.

(4): After the torrent, the trail climbs north towards Les Mottets (many marmots). After crossing a stream on a steep slope, leave the trail that leads to the Les Mottets refuge.

(5) Take the path that winds up to the Col de la Seigne.

(6) When you reach the pass (orientation table), descend east towards the Lée Blanche valley. Pass close to an unlisted refuge (altitude 2,320 m). The path widens below and the slope becomes gentler. You will reach the ruins of the Alpe Inférieure de la Lée Blanche: take the last steep path on the left of the day, which climbs up to the Elisabetta Soldini refuge (E).

Hello
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. It's helping me to plan our route and that's what I wanted to know. If you have any more information about another stage from the Col Chécroui to the Refuge Bonatti, I'd love to hear about it, as it seems longer to me, despite what the refuge keeper says.

Hello
The stage via the Col des Fours is not difficult, but it all depends on the weather, and at the beginning of July there can still be a lot of snow. We had the pleasure of seeing ibex at the Col des Fours, but it was early as we were leaving from the Col du Bonhomme refuge. I can't remember how long it took us, but the TMB topo guidebook says it took around 5? hours from Balme to Mottets. The climb to the Col du Bonhomme is long.

Sincerely

I'm going to do the Tour du Mont Blanc at the beginning of July; I'm looking for information on the stage that leads from the Balme refuge to the Mottets refuge: via the des Fours pass: Difficulty, time for an average walker (350 to 400 m per hour). I would like the same information about the following stage: refuge des mottes to refuge de maison vieille.
Thank you in advance.
