Walk around Marsanne

A pleasant, easy walk to explore Marsanne: the old village, the Priory of Saint-Félix, the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Fresneau and a small patch of woodland. Do take the time to explore Marsanne’s little shops as well.

Description of the walk

Park at Marsanne Town Hall.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, walk up Rue du Compte de Poitiers, then Rue Saint-Claude (the fairly steep street to the left of the Château de Montluisant).

(1) Turn right to head up to the Prieuré Saint-Félix and carry on to the D57. Take a moment to admire the view behind you; this is the Valdaine plain.

(2) Head down this departmental road on the left. Watch out for cars. You’ll come to a crossroads.

(3) Leave this departmental road and turn right towards the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Fresneau. Keep a low profile to preserve the tranquillity of the place.

(4) Take the path southwards into the forest and continue until you reach a side path.

(5) Turn left towards the village centre. Take Rue de la Marquise, then Place Auguste Canon, to reach the town hall car park (S/E).
