Xwa Naninégie from the Col d’Amos
A magnificent hike in the Northern Province, surely one of the most beautiful in the whole country. A succession of breathtaking views over the lagoon and the Diahot Valley before reaching Xwa Naninégie. With relatively little elevation gain, it is also a generally accessible hike and very pleasant to walk.
The Roches de Notre-Dame Trail
A shaded, easy trail for a lovely walk through the forest and around the magnificent black rocks of Notre-Dame. You can follow a short, well-maintained path to climb to the top of the escarpment and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view.
The Thiuvado Trail
A well-maintained trail, opened in 2025 by youth organisations in Koumac and easily accessible from the road. The route offers stunning panoramic views of the lagoon and the surrounding valleys, without presenting any significant difficulty. A magnificent spot for sunrises and sunsets, depending on the season.
Koumac – Marina, beaches and mangroves
A walk along the coast at Koumac around Pointe de Pandop, with its beaches and marina, which runs alongside a beautiful mangrove forest on the beach, on the eastern side, past the lagoon campsite. For this section, it is best to walk at low tide.
Summit of Arama from the Col d'Arama
A magnificent ridge path, very steep at the start, offering sublime 360° panoramic views of the Ninndo Mountains and the Coral Sea, which surrounds this strip of land, just ten kilometres wide to the east and west. One of the most beautiful views in all of New Caledonia.
