The starting point is Col des Annes. To avoid any inconvenience related to the road surface, it is essential to use the correct tarmac road that climbs up through the Bouchet valley (be careful with car GPS systems).
(S/E) Head south-east on a track towards the Refuge de la Pointe Percée or Refuge Gramusset. Follow the track through a series of two close left-right bends.
(1) Shortly afterwards, leave the track and take a path on the left that climbs to the summit of Tête des Annes (upper chairlift station).
(2) Continue east-southeast on the path and pass directly below an unnamed peak at an altitude of 1,950 metres. Climb up the ridge and go around Pointe des Delevrets on the left.
(3) Turn right and descend to the Col de l'Oulettaz.
(4) Turn right, ignore a path on the right and climb diagonally south-southeast. Reach the junction with a path coming from Les Troncs in the Bouchet valley.
(5) Turn left towards the Refuge de la Pointe Percée and climb up the tight hairpin bends. At the first intersection, continue straight ahead, ignoring the path on the right leading to the refuge. You will soon reach the next intersection.
(6) Then turn left (north-northeast), ignoring another path on the right leading to the refuge. Continue northeast across the sharp limestone pavement, where there is no real path. Numerous cairns are a valuable aid in keeping you on the right track.
(7) Near the altitude of 2315 m, turn right, heading due east. Climb up following the cairns to reach a ridge. Go around a secondary summit on the left, following a trail. Continue crossing under the summit of Pointe des Carmélites until you find a small chimney. Climb this easy chimney, which leads to the summit.
(8) Return via the same route in reverse to Col des Annes (S/E).
