Piton du Canot from Chamarel

Park in the car park at the three-way junction near the entrance to the Lakaz Chamarel View Bar.

(S/E) Head north-northwest and climb up to the entrance to the bar.

(1) Take the entrance path on the left.

(2) After about 200 m, pass a gate on your right and take the path leading off to the right along a fence. The path climbs straight up. Keep the fence on your right and follow the path. Pass two huts on your left. Note the viewpoint over the bay of Ile au Bénitier. Pass the terrace of the Lakaz Chamarel View Bar on your left. The path then first turns right then left. Continue along the path and, after a steep climb, you will reach the summit (360° panorama).

(3) Return via the same route in the opposite direction to the car park (S/E).

This hike should not be undertaken in wet weather, as the trail becomes very slippery.
