Start at Col de Gleize. Trail marked in yellow throughout the hike.
(S/E) The trail starts to the north, to the left of the forest house (signpost). It climbs in tight switchbacks through the forest, then opens out onto a high-altitude meadow.
(1) At the signpost, continue straight ahead (north) towards the Pic de Gleize.
(2) At an altitude of around 1,870 metres, turn left and climb up the mountainside. Cross a threshold (small pass). A yellow mark on a rock in the middle of the path is accompanied by the number 15.
(3) Do not continue straight ahead but take the path set back on the left (yellow mark 16 on a rock on the ground). Heading north, climb along the ridge to Pic de Gleize (the summit is wide enough to stop and enjoy the view).
N.B. This climb includes a few sections where you will need to use your hands, and some where you will be walking along the edge of a drop: these sections require caution (follow the yellow markings carefully).
(4) Cross the summit on the left and descend on the other side along the ridge (north-northeast) towards Pic de l'Aiguille (always follow the yellow markings).
(5) Below the altitude 2106, after the steep part of the descent from the peak, the path branches off to the right (south) to leave the ridge and descend into the valley below Pic de Gleize (follow the yellow markings).
(3) At point 15, turn left and descend via the same path you took on the way up to Col de Gleize (S/E).
