Park in the car park just before the arboretum, at the side of the D76.
(S/E) Follow the road carefully for about a hundred metres, then leave it and take a steeply ascending tarmac forest track on the right. Continue to the crossroads where you will find wooden barriers.
(1) Turn left then continue along the path which takes a sharp right-hand bend. Cross the track you left earlier, head straight ahead to take a sharp left-hand bend and rejoin the track.
(2) Cross the track again and continue straight ahead. At the end of the path and before reaching the D940, take the path on the right. Continue straight on, ignoring the turnings on the right, until you reach a large clearing not far from the road.
(3) Cross the clearing and take a new track almost directly opposite, which runs through the woodland and leads to the large car park at Pierre la Grosle. Take the forest road on the right.
(4) Pass by the pond and the anthill, slightly below the road on the right. Continue to the second junction and turn right behind the wooden gate. Keep left at the fork shortly afterwards and carry on straight ahead, heading north, to reach the D76 at the end of the path.
(5) Cross the road carefully to take the path towards the arboretum. Keep strictly to the left onto the path that goes round it. A short route allows you to explore it.
Leave the arboretum on the left, then turn immediately right onto the track, heading back up towards the D76. Return to the starting car park at the side of the road (S/E).
A pleasant walk; it wasn’t very busy when we were there, no doubt because the weather wasn’t very sunny.
