Short tour of Ottenburg

This invitation to discover Walloon Brabant, on the border between Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant, alternates between countryside and forest, nature and urban areas, as well as a short section in the northern zone of Wavre, passing by the unmissable GSK, one of the largest employers in Wallonia.

Description of the walk

With a bit of luck, the section between km 2 and 4 offers the chance to spot a heron or even a pheasant, a fox or sometimes a deer.
During our second outing on this route, a year later, only the fox failed to show its face. The pheasant and heron flew away as we approached... and the deer appeared around km 11 but quickly hurried back into the thicket!
This route can also be quite surprising, particularly shortly after kilometre 10, where the Belgocontrol facilities look like something straight out of a science fiction film, or further on, at the Gali campsite.

Thank you for the information about the Bossut hike😊
I look forward to discovering your other hikes, wherever they may be.
I love walking 😊

No worries, comments are there to share your own impressions!
And these can vary depending on many independent factors.
Please note, however, that the Bossut hike also includes sections of asphalt, cobblestone or concrete, as well as a short stretch along a main road at the entrance to Hamme-Mille
There are also some straight sections in the open countryside, particularly between Hamme-Mille and Gottechain!
This is the Brabant tail of Hesbaye, which is relatively flat overall.
NB: if you are interested in my hikes, I still have several hundred more to publish on Visorando, but they are spread across the whole of Wallonia and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (mainly)... I just need to find the time to post them and for the Visorando moderators to accept them .

Sorry for the mistake with your name 😅
I was indeed behind the hedge.
As I've done two other walks with your company, via Visorando, I was a little less enthusiastic about this one.
However, I will soon be doing the 20 km walk that goes through Bossut.
And I'm already looking forward to it 😊
See you soon ☺️

Thank you, rAoule66, for your comment.
It's true that the road at the entrance to Walloon Brabant is more or less paved all the way to the farm.
As I recall, the asphalt is crumbling and the stones will soon take over.
Nevertheless, the path is quite long and can seem monotonous... the impression probably depends on the weather and the wildlife you might see, but here you are really in the middle of nature!
However, after the (short) passage through the industrial estate, the proposed route does not take the path/cycle track that runs alongside the road but passes through the grassy path behind a high hedge from where you can no longer see the rather unglamorous buildings .

I often go on Claude's hikes.
This time, however, I was a little disappointed.
After a promising start, there was a long stretch (it seemed long to me) on a monotonous tarmac road.
After a short return to the woods, we walked along an industrial area for quite a while, on the road, on a path that runs alongside the road, and still with the unglamorous view of the buildings.
Fortunately, the last third is much more bucolic, which makes the route a little more interesting.
That said, I still enjoy walking, but I must admit that I much prefer nature 😅
Thank you anyway for the walk between the raindrops 😅
