Small Lake Tassenbach (East Tyrol)

A short, peaceful walk around Lake Tassenbach, popular with locals. The path first runs between the lake and a small river. You will see a few birds and ducks, which are not shy at all (ideal for children).

Description of the walk

To get to Lake Tassenbach from Lienz, take the main road towards Sillian and Italy. At Strassen, take the regional road on the left towards Kartitsch. Cross the first bridge over the river and immediately turn right onto the dirt road, which is wide at the beginning and allows you to park.

(S/E) From the small car park, join the regional road and follow it to the left.

(1) Cross the road and continue straight ahead towards the lake.

(2) Continue straight ahead with the lake on your left and the stream on your right.

(3) At the end of the lake, turn left onto the path that runs between the lake and a pond and continue to the end of the lake, facing the railway line.

(4) Turn left twice before the railway line. Continue along the lake until you reach the fork in the path you took on the way there.

(2) Turn right and, following the same route as on the way there, return to the car park (S/E).
