Description of the walk

The circular route starts at Bois d'Arcy Town Hall (car park next to the town hall), Fontenay-le-Fleury station, Bois d'Arcy, a 16-minute walk or 10-minute bus ride on the 6241.

(S/E) From thetown hall, head to Square Charles de Gaulle on the right (opposite the town hall) to observe thetree species (Atlas cedar, weeping ash, giant sequoia, Christmas fir, plane maple, maple-leaved plane, birch, lime, Lebanese cedar, white chestnut). Leave the square and take Rue Henri Barbusse southwards, turning right towards Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines until you reach the next pedestrian crossing.

(1) Take the small path on the right towards the Promenade Arcisienne, where you can seepear trees in bloom, American hackberry, evergreen magnolia and weeping willows. Continue to the end of the path, crossing a first junction and then a second.

(2) Once on Avenue Paul Vaillant Couturier, take the pavement to the left (west) towards the Croix Bonnet district to see Indian lilacs, American ash trees, American honey locusts, large-leaved lime trees, Corsican alders, American sweetgums, zelkovas and Japanese pagoda trees.

(3) When you reach Square Calmette et Guerin, turn right and enter the square to see theAtlas blue cedar, the Christmas tree, the maple-leaved plane tree, the white chestnut, the sycamore maple, the common catalpa and the flowering apple tree. Leave the square and take Allée des Jonquilles opposite. Then take Chemin de laRangée on the right before rejoining Avenue Paul Vaillant Couturier. Cross this avenue and take Rue Edouard Branly opposite, slightly to the right. Continue to Rue Laennec, then take the first left, Rue Henri Dunant, to reach the landscaped canal that runs alongside the cemetery. Cross Rue Gary Cooper and continue straight on to Avenue Fritz Lang. Turn left onto this road towards Leroy Merlin.

(4) Once you reach the Rond-Point des Frères Lumières, you can admire the maple trees and green columnar ash trees. Take Avenue Georges Méliès on the right towards Leclerc Drive.

(5) Once you reach the coach station on Rue Orson Welles, look out for Scots pines and bald cypresses. Continue to Rue Jacques Tati and turn left onto the street leading to the viewpoint. When you reach Rue Viviane Romance, turn right, cross the landscaped canal and turn right onto the footpath running alongside the canal.

(6) Around the landscaped canal, you can see the following species:Japanese pagoda tree, American honey locust, weeping willow and white willow, as well as acacias. At Place Michel Simon, take the small path on the left which crosses two paths and leads to Rue Simone Signoret. Cross the street and head straight ahead.

(7) Once you arrive at Square Mauban, you can see the following species:birch, blue cedar and Lebanese cedar, black pine and paulownia. Continueright onto Rue Louis Jouvet to see the following species: flowering cherry trees and Atlas blue cedars. At the roundabout, turn left then take the small path leading towards the woodland opposite Impasse Louise Brooks, where you can see a pedunculate oak. Turn right onto Chemin de Rennemoulins, then take the second left onto Allée des Garennes. Turn right onto Allée des Chevreuils to see the red maple and the pedunculate oak. Take the small path on the left.

(8) When you reach the Mare aux Grenouilles, admire the magnificentbald cypress. At the next junction, take the path on the right to reach Rue Hoche and follow it to the left.

(9) Once you reach the Carrefour du Puits, admire the following species: flowering cherry trees, lime trees, Chinese soapberry trees and apple trees. Take the pavement on Avenue Paul Vaillant Couturier on the left to reach the town hall (S/E).
