Start: Place de l'Église d'Oyeu.
(S/E) Leave the church square in Oyeu heading west, between the Foyer and the fountain, along Rue de l'Église.
You will soon come to the Route du Bourg, which you take to the right. You will pass the Route de la Marcotière. You will find the yellow markings, which you follow to La Chartreuse.
(1) You will come to a sign for "Les Micouds". Take the path on your right. It makes six 90° turns before coming out onto the D17. Cross over and take the small path opposite that branches off to the right and leads you to the sign for "Le Fayard". Continue along the Calvary path (you will see the Calvary at the top of the hill in front of you). Take the first small road on the left.
(2) You will come to the sign for "Le Calvaire". Turn right towards "Les Combes". Your path will naturally turn 90° to the right. Further on, take another stony path that branches off to your left at a 45° angle.
Ignore a path coming from your left at a 45° angle. Very quickly, at a fork, turn right. You will come to a small tarmac road, which you take on the right.
(3) You will come to a sign for Les Combes. Take the path on the right (towards Notre-Dame de Milin) and then, very soon after, turn left (sign for Les Fenu). Continue along the beautiful gravel path, ignoring any paths coming from the right or left. You will come to a small tarmac road, which you should take on the left.
(4) You are now at a place called "La Commanderie". Take the small road that climbs to the right (sign: Direction Notre-Dame de Milin). This will take you to the chapel.
(5) At the Chapel of Notre-Dame de Milin (sign), take the gravel path that climbs to the right (direction La Croix du Moine Mort). This is the only difficult part of the walk: a 180m climb over 1.4km.
You will cross a small road and take the path opposite, between two fences, towards some large farm buildings.
Climb up through the forest to the cross. Make sure you find the path that led you to the clearing. To leave this clearing, ignore the first two paths on your right and take the third one opposite (it climbs slightly).
(6) At the Croix du Moine Mort, there is a sign indicating two directions to reach the Sylve Bénite. Take the path indicated above. When you reach a fork, take the right-hand branch.
(7) After a while, you will come to a clearing. Take the good path on the right, which winds down in wide bends to La Chartreuse.
(8) At the sign for "les carrières d'argile" (clay quarries), continue downhill to the right.
(9) You will soon reach what remains of the Chartreuse de la Sylve Bénite. Walk past it. At the next crossroads, there is a sign for "Sylve Bénite". Turn right.
Be careful! Very soon, the yellow markings will try to make you leave your beautiful, wide track and turn right. Do not be tempted. Continue along this beautiful track for a good while, ignoring the tracks that branch off to the left and right. Pass the long wood on your left.
(10) Then, when you reach a fork, take the gravel path that branches off to the left at 135° (yellow "Camping" sign and mountain bike route sign). If you miss it, don't worry. When you reach the village of Blaune, turn left at the crossroads to rejoin us.
Ignore the path on your left and continue on your current path. You will come to a small road, where you should turn left. You will rejoin the D17, which you should follow for 100 metres, keeping to the left (be careful, traffic travels very fast here!).
(11) A yellow marker will draw your attention to a grassy path that branches off to the right of the road (signposted "Martinière"). Cross the D17 and follow this poorly maintained path. It climbs towards the church and will take you back to your vehicle (S/E).
A pleasant hike that turned into a dandelion picking session. The only downside was at checkpoint 6, where the wooden sign was placed on the wrong side, shortening the route too much and preventing it from passing through the Sylve Benite forest. You have to follow the yellow sign, which leads to a very muddy path with strong winds. We didn't see any other hikers on our route; we were the only ones there, which was fine by us. In the evening at home, we had a salad with dandelions, croutons, bacon bits and hard-boiled eggs. It was very, very good. Thank you to the trail markers, but not for the dandelions!
