Bakewell to Grindleford, or how to catch the "quick" train to Manchester
Bakewell to Manchester by public transport was a 2h30 trip. Too much of a sitting for us. We decided to walk the 13 k up to Grindleford (3h30 walk) and catch the train from there (1 hour to Manchester Piccadilly). The start is a bit abrupt, the section along the river splendid, and there is a pub 5 minutes before the train station, if you've missed your train (or if you're early for the next one)...
Magpie Mine & Over Haddon from Ashford-in-the Water
This Peak District walk starts in the pretty village of Ashford-in-the-Water and explores the limestone country lying to the south of the Wye Valley. The routes visits the remains of Magpie Mine, the village of Over Haddon and uses mainly field paths to complete the route.
Ashford in the Water, Monsal Dale and Great Shacklow Wood

A lovely walk from Ashford in the Water taking in a wide range of terrains including two dales, the River Wye and the Great Shacklow Wood. It's a good un!
Chatsworth Estate, Calton Pastures and Edensor

Really lovely varied walk starting at Calton Lees and climbing up to Calton Pastures with great views over the surrounding area of Bakewell and Chatsworth House. After passing the house climb through Stand Wood and return to the car park via Beeley.
From Baslow to Rowsley and Beeley
This is a varied walk skirting the Chatsworth Estate through woods and moorland.
Chatsworth House

Chatsworth is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family.
