Description of the walk

Departure from Moulin de la Chaise, access from Saint-Suliac via Rue Dom Allain, Rue Chaize and then Route du Mont Garrot.
Small car park with around ten spaces at the top of the hill on the right.

(S/E) Head in the opposite direction to the access road. Enjoy the view of the port and village of Saint-Suliac on your right. You may be lucky enough to see Mont-Saint-Michel on the horizon. Pass between the houses. In the right-hand bend, take the path downhill on the left.

(1) Pass close to the Clos du Gareau vineyards. Continue downhill facing the Rance and the ruins of an ancient Viking camp.

(2) At the bottom, turn right into the meadow. Follow the yellow and red markings ofthe GR® du Pays Malouin. Cross the steps and the wooden barrier. Continue along the raised path on the edge of the Vigneux cove. Pass the point and more steps.

(3) Turn right where the path forms a hairpin bend on the downhill section near a marker post. Continue along the path uphill off theGRP®. Reach the summit of Mont Gareau near a large rock and go around the old quarry on the left. Cross a metal footbridge and then climb up to the right. Continue along the path until you reach a clearing. Leave this wooded area via a wide path and you will come to the road.

At the bend offering a view of Saint-Suliac on the left, head right towards the mill and return to the starting point (S/E).

Confusion on beacon 3
Perhaps we turned too early?
In any case, there are plenty of paths to get back up to the plateau
Very nice walk!

A lovely, very enjoyable walk!
The path does get lost, so you have to pay attention... We weren't paying attention to the path, we were enjoying the scenery, and sure enough, we got lost ;-)
But by following the signs, everything was fine, and we found our way back easily!

Good route with magnificent views and a cool section under the trees. Slight difficulty three-quarters of the way through in figuring out which path to take. But we eventually found our way.

Enjoy your post-lunch stroll on this beautiful, sunny, warm day.
We enjoyed the coolness of the forest and the views of the Rance.
Finally, we ended our trip with a visit to Saint-Suliac.
Thank you for this hike.

A very beautiful route between the banks of the Rance and the forest. From point 3 onwards, the route is less visible. Some sections may be slippery/muddy after days of rain.

Passage 3 difficult to determine.
In the end, at the top, we didn't find a footbridge, but we reached the mill very easily.
We had some difficulty with the rough passages but managed to get through them.
We will do this hike again with our children and grandchildren (aged 10+).
Best done in good weather.

Hello Etika,

Belated thanks for your comments and this climb up Mont Gareau.
Sorry for the slight detour. Indeed, given the many small trails, you always end up back at the summit.
Have a great summer!

Hello,
A very beautiful hike.
We couldn't find the marked trail, but there are clearly others (several markings)... and as the landscape is magnificent, getting lost is no problem!
You still need to wear good shoes (obviously), especially after a storm.
It really is a very beautiful route.
Thank you for this lovely walk.

Good evening, Paulburtin,

Thank you for your comments.
As the route of the uphill section is approximate, could you tell me what means of guidance you used?
Description, GPS or trail tracking.
It's true that the view of Saint-Suliac is magnificent, but my photo isn't included because it wasn't selected.
Happy New Year!
Jean-François
