Between Langrolay-sur-Rance and Plouër-sur-Rance

This is a circular route that allows you, on the one hand, to walk along the banks of the Rance from the Pont Saint-Hubert to the Grève du Roué near Langrolay-sur-Rance and, on the other hand, to explore the hinterland and visit the charming hamlets. There are also sections through woodland.

Description of the walk

It is advisable to park, preferably to avoid any surprises, at the top of the Roué beach, near Langrolay-sur-Rance.

(S/E) Set off along the edge of the river bend where it flows into the Rance until the path turns right and heads back up towards Langrolay-sur-Rance. You are now on theGR®34and 37, a link route which you follow.

(1) Turn left into the woods to cross a bridge over the Ville ès Rats stream. At the end of the bridge, turn right, leaving theGR®, and about 50 metres further on, turn right again to follow the course of the stream. Keep to the path. At one point, cross the stream and climb the slope opposite. At the top, follow the path on the left which descends back down to the stream. Continue to the D12 road between Dinard and Plouer-sur-Rance.

(2) Turn left and follow the road for 50 m. Be careful: the road is busy and, at this point, drivers’ visibility is limited as it is a bend. Take the farm track on the right, then, after about thirty metres, turn left onto the path that climbs into the woods. It continues to follow the same stream, passing under a power line. Shortly afterwards, at a junction, you’ll come out at a right angle onto a path

(3) Turn left, leave the woods and walk along the fields until you meet the D12 road again.

(4) Take the D12 road on the left and, on reaching the hamlet of La Lande-du-Bois, go straight on whilst the D12 turns slightly to the left. A sign indicates “La Hennelais, La Fosse-Bourgette”. Stay on this quiet little road and pass through the hamlets of La Hautière and Lannois. Cross the road and continue straight ahead.

(5) When you reach a right-angle junction with another small road, turn right and, a little further on, turn left so that you continue along the same road until you reach the junction with another road.

(6) Turn right at a right-angle junction and cross the dual carriageway linking Avranches and Lamballe via a bridge. Join the D366.
Alternative route: see Practical Information.

(7) Turn left onto the Route du Pont Saint-Hubert towards the bridge. The road is quite busy and has no pedestrian crossing, but is wide enough for cars to pull over. As soon as possible, leave it and take Rue du Passeur on the left, which leads down into the hamlet.

(8) On the left, between two walls and next to an L-shaped wooden bench, you will find the narrowGR® path, which you should take. If you reach Rue du Petit Vlos on the right, it means you have missed thisGR® entrance and must turn back.
Follow theGR® as it climbs towards Dinard and pass under the dual carriageway. When you reach a small road on the left, at a place called La Roche, turn right and follow the coastal path.

(9) Pass the Bas Bout slipway, go round the property there and continue along the coastal path.

(10) At the hamlet of Le Souhaitier, don’t forget to walk behind the chapel of the same name and look through the gate there. It is a work by the Breton artist Marc Didou. Don’t hesitate to walk through this gate either. Then turn left to follow the Anse de la Souhaitier. Continue to follow theGR® to the bridge.

(1) Then follow the bank of the Ruisseau de la Ville ès Rats to return to the car park (S/E).

Hello, thank you for your feedback.

GPS recordings are generally moderately reliable when it comes to distances, particularly because corners are often cut. They are even less reliable when it comes to altitudes and, therefore, elevation changes.

To obtain an accurate estimate, you need to load the track and rework it. Visorando offers two tools for this: (i) manual adjustment of the track (Actions/edit route/Modify); (ii) recalculation of altitudes based on a fine mesh of points at known altitudes calculated by the relevant geographical services in the different countries (Actions/Recalculate altitudes).

An uninteresting route in terms of its plants and the banks of the Rance, it's a shame that a large part of the route is on roads, even if they are not too busy.
The terrain is a bit muddy despite the relatively dry season.
My GPS shows a longer distance of about 1 km, but more importantly, twice the elevation gain. Yet I followed the route strictly.
