Park in the square in Baban (there are around ten parking spaces). Alternatively, park at the start of the track indicated below.
You can reach the square in Baban via a wide, flat track that heads south from the second-last hairpin bend on the road leading to the Margeriaz snow stadium.
(S) From the square in Baban, leave the horizontal track that leads to the Grotte aux Fées (Fairy Cave) and take the path immediately to the right. This path, marked with the Tannes et Glacières logo, will take you back up into the forest.
Discover the 170-metre-deep Gouffre, the Karst alleyway, the cauldron-shaped sinkhole, then the Grand Rafou with its stone arch, and exit onto the mountain pasture.
Further up, you will find sharp limestone pavements and the magnificent Pont de Pierre (Stone Bridge).
The themed trail gradually approaches the edge of the cliff overlooking the Déserts valley.
(1) Leave this trail and continue climbing towards the ridge of Mont Margeriaz, carefully following the edge of the cliff, passing well to the left of the chairlift arrival point.
Reach the highest point at 1,845 metres, a little further on between the two ski lifts, and look for a blue mark on the rock, which indicates the entrance to the Golet de l'agneau.
While access to the Margeriaz ridges via the Aillon valley is easy, access from the Col de Plaimpalais is more difficult.
There are two ways to get past the obstacle:
1 - The Trou de l'Agneau, which goes through a cave and should only be used on the way up.
2 - The Golet de l'Agneau winds its way between impressive faults at the top of the cliff, with cables and a metal ladder to help you progress.
After checking out the fault line up to the ladder, head back along the ridge.
Look for the Bergerie buildings on the plateau.
(2) Descend on sight along the red trail (green in spring). During the descent, the buildings disappear from view, reappearing after a short climb passing under the chairlift cables.
(3) Continue descending as far as you can see, staying on the tracks to avoid the sharp limestone pavement.
(4) After the sheepfold (goat cheese), reach the edge of the woods to find the branch of the Tannes et Glacières trail, which will take you back to Place à Baban.
This time, discover the Tannes aux Cochons, then the Tanne du Néve and finally the cave under the path.
