The trail starts at the source of the Loute (altitude 1091m) at the side of the road between Col des Près and Aillon-le-Jeune. Precisely 600 or 700 m below the "Col de Prés" sign, there is a bathtub converted into a drinking trough and a "Chasse Gardée" sign as landmarks.
There are other springs along this road, notably the Fressette downstream, which is easier to spot when driving and can therefore be misleading.
(S/E) Once you have identified the starting point, follow the path that climbs gently towards Le Replat. You will reach the Le Replat meadow in about 40 minutes.
(1) Continue along the path until you quickly reach an intersection, then leave the path that descends to Rocquerand.
(2) Continue towards Col de Verne and Bergerie du Margeriaz. Note the ruins of the Replat chalets below. You will reach a cairn.
(3) At this point, you will need to change direction and head south, following the yellow-green markings.
Reach the summit in 45 minutes. Beautiful unobstructed view of Les Bauges, Belledonne, Chartreuse and Mont Blanc.
(4) From the summit, take the same route back to the car park (S/E).
