Description

Start: From the car park adjacent to the Caaf Water at the foot of the brae on the B714 (Postcode KA24 4JT, what3words ///stung.headings.physics).

(S/E) Start at the car park at the foot of the brae on the B714 adjacent to the Caaf Water.

(1) Exit the car park and turn right to the traffic lights and right again onto the pavement on the B714. Head SW, crossing the Lynn Bridge and carry on along the pavement until you reach a gate on the right hand side.

(2) Walk through the very narrow gate onto a hardcore path and continue on west along the path. Pass through another very narrow gate. Pass the Lynn Falls waterfall on the right hand side. Walk up a slight incline via either slope or steps and pass through another very narrow gate. Follow the path directly adjacent to the Caaf Water, now heading SW. Cross over a wooden bridge now heading south. Climb the steps and follow the path upwards (please note that the path narrows and there will be steep drops to the right). Climb another set of steps immediately followed by a set going downwards and curving around the bend.

(3) Cross a wooden bridge over the Caaf Water and carry on west for a short section, walking up a steep set of steps whilst rounding the bend to carry on NE. Walk down another set of steep steps and carry on along the path (once again noting steep drops to the right).

(4) At the field gate turn right and continue down either the slope or steps and cross the wooden bridge, now heading east. Pass through the gate and continue on past the row of cottages on the right.

(5) Just beyond the 'Laighlynn' cottage, on the opposite side of the road to the right hand side, there is a gate into a field. Pass through this gate and cross through the field to arrive back at the car park (S/E).

Dog policy: this is a popular walk with dog walkers. Please note that some of the sections do have steep drops and access to the river.

In the nearby area

This is an excellent route for wildlife watching.

Some sections of the site are Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI's), designated for their geological features.

The site is home to a selection of waterfalls including the largest, Lynn Falls.

There are interpretation boards along this walk.

There are remnants of a fairy trail.
