Description of the walk

Start: Front door of Kilbirnie Lochshore Hub (KA15 2AJ) Grid ref. NS 326 535

(S/E) Starting from the front door of Kilbirnie Lochshore Hub, take one of the paths to the right to pick up the road. Follow the road adjacent to the rugby pitches (North-West) that will be on your right hand side. Continue on until you reach the junction indicating the start of the cycle track.

(1) Turn left onto the cycle track and continue on (North-West) until the next junction.

(2). At the junction turn right and continue on straight ahead following the tarmac cycle path.

(3) At the junction, carry on to the right where the tarmac path becomes a gravel path. Carry on on this path where you will shortly pick up views over Kilbirnie Loch

(4) Follow the path along the shore of the Loch until you reach the junction which joins the tarmac cycle track. Turn left.

(2) At the junction take another left and walk until you reach the road adjacent to the rugby pitches.

(1) Turn right and follow the road back to the Lochshore Hub (S/E)

Transport: Bus and train from Glengarnock train station are within walking distance

Facilities :
Kilbirnie Lochshore Hub has a cafe and toilets - check with communityresources@north-ayrshire.gov.uk for opening times before you arrive. There are plenty of seating opportunities along the route and some children's interactive play equipment.

Terrain: The paths are in very good condition but be prepared for some surface water in wet conditions. This route is part of a larger 5km route that incorporates the amenity grassland.

Dog policy : It is a great site for dog walkers.
