Description of the walk

Start at the church in Saint-Martin-d’Heuille.

(S/E) Turn onto Rue de la Chaume, then follow the white-pebbled path to the hunters’ hut, about 2 km away.

(1) Leave the white path here, turning left past the hut. Take the dirt track that leads into the woods and follow it for about 800 m.

(2) At the junction of two paths, including the Chemin du Roy, turn right and carry on straight ahead for 600 m. A sign marked ‘Source’ points the way.

(3) Leave the path and head down to the left, due north, through the middle of the woods, into a hollow. You’ll reach thefirst spring, which is very close by (100 m away). Another sign marked ‘Source’ points towards the second spring, to the north, about 70 m from the first.

(4) Retrace your steps back to the hunters’ hut.

(1) Cross the white track and take the dirt track opposite. Follow it straight on until you reach the edge of the woodland.

(5) Leave the woods and cross the field (communal path) towards Saint-Martin-d’Heuille. Follow the road that goes round the sports ground on the right, then take the main road on the right to reach the church at Saint-Martin-d’Heuille (S/E).

Easy at first until you reach the hunting lodge, but then there are a lot of uncertainties. The signpost for the springs is right at the end; it would be good to put one before. The springs are not particularly interesting; it's just a walk in the forest. The return to the village is more difficult due to ruts in the path.

A very pleasant first section, with a wide, easily navigable path. Access to the springs is blocked by fallen trees. An interesting find, as you could easily walk right past it.
The return journey after the hunters’ hut was very muddy, with deep ruts left by vehicles (belonging to the very same hunters!) filled with water, which made the walk back rather unpleasant.
In the end, it’s better to just do a simple round trip!
