The Foliata trails

This walk alternates between hedgerow paths, country lanes and forest sections, making for a pleasant, partly shaded stroll, ideal in summer. The final path, recently upgraded, leads to the lake whilst offering a lovely view of the wet heathland and La Feuillie church.

Description of the walk

Yellow markings (PR®)

(S/E) From the car park at the La Feuillie lake, walk up Rue Jardinier Deslandes towards the church. Pass the cemetery, then the town hall.

(1) Take Rue de la Mer on your left. After 200 m, take the country lane on your right. Follow it for 450 m until you reach a crossroads.

(2) Turn left and follow the road for 400 m. Cross the D94 carefully and continue straight on until you reach the sunken lane on your right, just before the bridge over the stream.

(3) Take this sunken lane, which leads onto the D534.

(4) Follow it to the right for 350 m, then take the country lane on your left. Follow the lane for 1 km to the next junction with a local road.

(5) Take the path opposite and, 400 m further on.

(6) Take the forest path on your left. You are now entering the moors of La Feuillie. Follow the path for 900 m. Pass three other paths on your right which lead into the heart of the moor (do not take these to stay on the route).

(7) At a crossroads, take the path on the right and follow it for 1,200 m until you reach Rue du Manoir, a local road.

(8) Follow it to the left to reach Rue du Manoir (D534) 250 m further on. Take the road slightly to the right and follow it for 660 m. You will then pass through the hamlet of La Gislarderie and, further on, the hamlet of Le Pont.

(9) Turn left onto Rue du Manoir, which becomes a country lane after 200 m. Continue straight on for nearly 1 km, then join a local road.

(10) Follow it in the direction of the path you left earlier for 200 m.

(11) Before the bridge over the Lay, at the small house, take the small sunken path on the right which, after just over 400 m, leads onto a path in the open countryside. Follow it for 200 m to reach the La Feuillie lake (S/E).
