Description of the walk

Starting point in Vétheuil, Place du Cimetière. A few free parking spaces. As the car park is quite small, you can also park for free a little further down Rue Claude Monet.

(S/E) From Vétheuil church, follow Rue du Cimetière then turn left onto Chemin de Chérence. There is an uphill climb for about 800 m. You’ll reach the heights, near the Mantes Chérence airfield.

(1) Walk alongside it. You can watch gliders taking off. Continue straight on until you reach a house next to the Route des Crêtes.

(2) Turn left to continue along the footpath. There is then a descent of a few hundred metres. Be careful at the bottom of the descent, as there are several paths.

(3) Follow the red and white marked path. There are then no further junctions until the next viewpoint.

(4) Once you reach the first viewpoint overlooking the Seine, you’ll be able to take some magnificent photos.
You can veer slightly off the hiking trail to climb a little higher and enjoy a panoramic view from Vétheuil to La Roche-Guyon.

(5) Then rejoin the hiking trail to continue on to La Roche-Guyon. A few hundred metres further on, there is a second viewpoint overlooking the Seine. Once you reach the next viewpoint, you will have a view of the Château de La Roche-Guyon.

(6) Then head down into the town centre of La Roche-Guyon. You can visit the kitchen garden and orchard opposite the château.

(7) Turn back and follow the same route you took on the way there to return to the starting point (S/E).
