Departure from the Col des Bagenelles car park.
(S/E) Cross the Route du Bonhomme in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines and follow a small tarmac road heading east. Stay on this road, ignoring any paths or tracks on either side, until you reach a hairpin bend to the right.
(1) Leave the road, head south-east and pass the Haïcot farmhouse inn. Continue along the meadows on the path marked with a yellow cross. When you reach the forest, take a small path marked red-white-red on the right (do not take the one on the edge of the forest). Pass the "Amis de la Nature" chalet.
(2) When you reach a large crossroads, turn left (still following the red and white signs), heading east then north-east. Ignore the paths on either side and continue to a new crossroads.
(3) Turn right at an acute angle towards Petit Brezouard (red rectangle,GR®5). At a fork (elevation 1107), turn right and climb up to Petit Brezouard. Begin the descent on the other side and you will soon reach an unguarded shelter with tables.
(4) On the left, descend on the Red Triangle trail until you reach the intersection with the Yellow Rectangle marked trail.
(5) Turn right and continue along this path marked with a yellow rectangle. Leave a trail and then a path on your left and continue to the Le Plat crossroads.
(6) Turn right onto the path marked with a red and white rectangle. Pass a path on your left and continue until you reach another large crossroads.
(7) Turn left onto the path that returns to Haïcot.
(8) At the next crossroads, turn left, following the red rectangle. When paths arrive from the left, continue to the right on the main path that descends to the car park where you started (S/E).
