Les bords de la Souchez à Liévin

Start from the car park on Rue Jean de la Bruyère.

(S/E) Leave the car park and turn right onto Rue de la Bruyère. At the end, keep to the right and turn immediately right onto Rue Léon Regnier. Pass La Souchez.

(1) Turn right onto Rue Fabre d’Églantine and take the path on the right running alongside the river. Carry on straight ahead until you reach a small hill.

(2) Keep slightly to the right and carry on straight ahead until you reach the bridge over the (D58).

(3) Carry on straight ahead along the cycle path until the next junction.

(4) Stay on the cycle path, keeping slightly to the side, and carry on straight ahead to the end near the railway line (marshalling yard).

(5) Turn right, then left towards the green gate with the ‘Gazaunord’ sign. Follow the path to the right and straight on to the top of the slag heap, which offers a 360° view

(6) Go down the wooden steps and, at the bottom, turn left. At the end, turn right and carry on straight ahead until you can go no further.

(7) Take the path on the right, then the first on the left, and walk alongside a pond. Keep to the left between the two ponds and, after the building, continue to the right until you reach a junction.

(8) Turn left and walk round the ponds, then take the third path on the left and then the second on the right until you reach the road.

(9) Turn right and, opposite, take Rue du Docteur Roux and carry on straight ahead, then turn right twice to reach the cemetery after crossing the A211.

(10) Take the first street on the left. Cross the road and head straight ahead. After the church, turn right then left, go under the bandstand and reach La Souchez.

(11) After this, turn left and carry on straight ahead until you reach the road.

(12) First turn left then right, and carry on straight ahead. Cross the grassy area and you’ll reach a crossroads.

(13) Continue along the path on the left until you reach the cross street.

(14) Cross Rue d’Avion and enter the Pinchonvalles site. Take the path on the left, then the second on the right, and continue on the circular path to exit the site and rejoin Rue d’Avion.

(14) Cross it and head straight ahead to the fork you passed on the way in.

(13) Take the path on the left and head towards the sports ground. Turn right between the sports ground and the building, then turn diagonally left and go behind the houses to reach the car park (S/E).
