Les Barulaïres on Les Chemins de Séraphin

Séraphin guides you along a blue-marked route, C No. 1, to explore the village.
An easy route that takes about an hour.
As you set off along Avenue de la Baisse, at the traffic lights, take a look at the rose window of Saint Maurice Church. Further on, take care when crossing the Malagrone… There was a time when it used to burst its banks. Unfortunately, the stream is currently dry.

Description of the walk

Park on Place Nationale below the church, on the left, after the traffic lights.

(S/E) Head south along Cours de la République, then turn left straight away onto Avenue de la Baisse. At the hairpin bend, turn right onto Ancien Chemin de Carpentras. Then turn left onto Petit Chemin des Prés. You’ll reach a crossroads with four perpendicular roads.

(1) Turn left to stay on the Chemin des Prés, leading to the Route de Modène. Turn right onto this road to reach the junction with the Chemin de Crochan.

(2) Turn left onto this road and follow it until you reach another crossroads, at the Chemin de Crillon. Turn right, cross the Ruisseau de la Malagrone, and continue through the vineyards to join the Chemin du Ploutas.

(3) Turn left onto this track, then turn left at the next junction. Cross the stream again and continue until you reach the junction with Chemin du Plagnol.

(4) Head slightly left until you reach the primary school. Then turn left onto Cours de la République to return to the car park at Place Nationale (S/E)

A short walk through town and countryside on tarmac (with few cars) to explore Caromb and enjoy magnificent views of Mont Ventoux. Best done towards the end of the day to make the most of the light for photos. An ideal family walk, though perhaps a little short; I’d extend it another time by carrying on to Crillon...

The journey time is a very rough estimate; a brisk walker would take 45 minutes, not an hour.

As the description suggests, this is a short route for exploring the village, so it’s mainly (or perhaps exclusively?) on tarmac. I think you could extend it quite a bit by continuing along the road towards Crillon-le-Brave, but the short loop around the village is perfect as a ‘warm-up’.
