In Nadaillat, park in the cemetery car park, at the bottom and south of the village.
(S/E) Head towards the village, passing the cemetery entrance, then follow the one-way street that climbs straight up. At the cross, go straight on, leaving the church on your left, until you reach a street with a fountain and the Nadaillat hiking signpost. Turn left towards L'Oradoux and follow the blue markings until otherwise indicated. Ignore the Chemin du Lavoir on the left. You will come to a junction.
(1) Ignore Rue du Sabotier on the left – this will be your return route – and then a dead end on the right. Continue along the road, pass the chicanes, then turn left onto Rue de la Croix Saint-Roch. You’ll soon reach this cross flanked by four beautiful lime trees; take the right-hand street at the junction, then immediately turn off onto a path on the right. You’ll reach a road at the L’Oradoux signpost.
(2) Continue straight on along Chemin de la Vigerale, towards Les Condamines. Much further on, you’ll reach a junction at the Les Condamines signpost. Leave the blue markings and follow the path that veers to the right, towards La Condamine Ouest. You’ll soon come to another path, marked (red and white) by the GR®30.
(3) Follow the path to the left, towards Ponteix. You will pass above Lac de la Cassière. Further on, at the Freyderas signpost, ignore two paths to the left and continue straight ahead, still heading towards Ponteix.
(4) At the Moulebas signpost, leave the GR® and follow the path to the left which descends towards Rouillat Haut. Pass a water intake and arrive at the junction with a road.
(5) Continue straight ahead into the hamlet of Rouillat Haut via Rue Chemin de la Varenne. Note the first enamelled tiles: these are the street signs as well as illustrations of La Fontaine’s fables. They adorn, both literally and figuratively, the streets of the hamlet. Leave Rue du Coudet on your left and you’ll come to the chapel, the wash house and the fountain. Head across the grass towards the chapel, then join the road below.
(6) Cross it and follow Chemin de la Cassière opposite, then turn left onto the next street, Chemin de l'Oie. Ignore a street on the right and continue straight on along Rue du Four. At the T-junction, turn right, then immediately left onto Chemin de la Serre. As the street curves, you’ll reach the Rouillat Haut signpost.
(7) Follow the path straight on towards Yvée. Further on, pass an old drinking trough on the left. You’ll reach a T-junction at the Yvée signpost. Turn left towards Pré Montrand. You’ll reach this signpost fairly quickly, at a crossroads where several paths meet.
(8) Turn left towards Tertre de Fontarbre. You will reach a large crossroads at this marker, further on to the right. Continue straight on towards La Trulière. From here on, keep a sharp eye out for the tiny shepherds’ huts (or rather, young shepherds’ huts) built into the dry stone walls marking out the plots that criss-cross the Montagne de la Serre here. Further on, you’ll reach the La Trulière marker at a T-junction. Look for blue markings, which you should follow until otherwise indicated.
(9) Turn right onto the path towards Nadaillat. Further on, after a wide left-hand bend, the path narrows and passes a wooden cross. Shortly afterwards, you’ll reach a fork in the path.
(10) Leave the blue markings and follow the path on the left. Further on, you will reach a street in Nadaillat. At the fork in the road, keep right; at the next T-junction, turn right, pass a fountain and return to the junction you passed on the way out.
(1) Return to the car park (S/E) via the reverse route of the outward journey: turn right and then, at the Nadaillat signpost, follow the signs to La Trulière on the right.
